The Netherlands has declared a state of emergency in a bid to prevent farmers from protesting against the country’s green tyranny in the name of “fighting climate change.”
SHTF Plan‘s Mac Slavo wrote about the situation on July 3, noting that the Dutch government at The Hague made the declaration in response to a June 29 protest. The gathering organized by the Farmers Defense Force reportedly drove tractors into the city, the Dutch seat of government, to protest the mandatory fertilizer reduction targets set by the government.
According to the farmers, the state of emergency was a way to squash their freedom of assembly. They added that their rights are being trampled on by totalitarianism wearing the mask of “democracy.”
Dutch News reported that Jan van Zanen, mayor of The Hague, issued an emergency order on the morning of June 29. The order prohibited farm tractors from entering the city center, but this did not dissuade the protesting farmers. In defiance of the emergency order, they blockaded supermarkets and dumped farm waste on roads. Law enforcement managed to intercept a group of tractor drivers at the A1 highway in Bathmen village, eventually talking them out of joining the protest. Meanwhile, around 40 farmers who headed down the A28 highway toward the city of Amersfoort were escorted by police off the road. The farmers were slapped with fines afterward.
While FDF had hoped to raise 10,000 supporters for the June 29 protest, only less than 1,000 made the trip to The Hague. Van Zanen ordered police to move the demonstrators toward the city’s open-air Malieveld Park due to lack of space.
In April, Dutch Climate and Energy Minister Rob Jetten said the Netherlands needs a “great leap forward” after missing its climate goals for years. According to Euronews, the Dutch government plans to spend €28 billion ($30.7 billion) in the coming years to meet its climate goals for 2030.
To achieve this target, the Dutch government is resorting to drastic measures such as outlawing farming. But this attack on farms comes at a high price – a serious impact on the food supply, which customers are paying. These drastic measures are what the farmers are protesting against.
“Democracy worldwide is, even if run perfectly, nothing more than mob rule and nothing less than slavery. All freedom is an illusion as long as governments exist, [and] people will be deluded into being their slaves,” wrote Slavo.
“Of course, [the Dutch] government – like all governments – sees them only as slaves meant to obey, so they don’t care about rights or freedom. The rulers think they own their slaves. It would be like believing your cow has a right to vote to keep it from being eaten.”
Slavo also questioned the farmers’ decision to disobey and make their way to The Hague. “If they intend to disobey the state of emergency, why not just disobey the unjust law they are protesting?” he asked.
“Begging the master for longer chains never works – and if it does, it’s only temporary. The way to end it is to remove the system that’s putting chains on people. The notion of government gets more absurd by the day, and yet slaves still hold up the system that’s oppressing them.”
