In the short 10 months of Joe Biden’s stolen presidency, America has gone to hell in a handbasket, and it is all due to the purposeful introduction of policies that are designed to crash our economy and bring our country to the brink of ruin so the Marxists running his regime can ‘fundamentally transform’ America into the authoritarian model they have always wanted.
How else to explain why an American president would even consider the closure of a vital oil pipeline in the midst of skyrocketing gasoline prices that are hurting the poorest Americans the most — precisely the demographic Democrats claim to care about the most?
Fox News reported this week that the regime’s officials are already predicting that energy prices are going to climb dramatically this winter, and yet, they are considering the closure of the Line 5 pipeline that streams into Michigan from Canada:
The Biden administration is reportedly weighing the potential market consequences of shutting down an oil pipeline in Michigan, drawing criticism from opponents. Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Biden’s energy secretary, predicted Sunday that heating prices will rise this winter regardless of the Biden administration’s decision on the pipeline. “Yeah, this is going to happen. It will be more expensive this year than last year,” Granholm told CNN.
The administration has yet to decide on what to do with Line 5 and officials were gathering information only to present a clear picture of the situation, according to sources who spoke to Politico.
The pipeline is part of a larger network that transports crude oil and other fossil fuel products from fields in Western Canada to the United States. About 540,000 barrels of product flow through the network on a daily basis; petroleum is then taken from the pipeline in Escanaba, Mich. So clearly, this is an extremely vital energy artery.
Critics including Jason Hayes, the environmental policy director at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, are railing at the administration over its energy policies. In an interview with Fox News, Hayes said any consideration regarding the shutdown of Line 5 is “just one more example of being divorced from reality.”
“They’re planning to power an industrial nation like the United States on solar panels and wind turbines,” Hayes said, going on to point out that even solar panels and wind turbines need “oil, natural gas, nuclear and even coal” in order to be manufactured.
Shutting down the pipeline is likely going to lead to higher prices for sure, but also could produce shortages of fuels during the coldest part of winter, which will be deadly.
“I hope it doesn’t end like this, but where I see it going is, unfortunately, the same thing that happened in February in Texas: People freezing in their homes,” he said. “Most of the time when it’s extremely cold or there’s a real bad polar vortex situation, typically it’s pretty cloudy and there’s not a lot of wind.”
Hayes went on to say that it appears Western leaders are so wedded to ‘climate change’ alarmism they don’t understand or appreciate the need for, and availability of, cheap, readily accessible fossil fuel energy sources.
“It seems like the only nations that understand that we require reliable, affordable dispatchable energy is China and Russia. And they’re the only ones that are producing energy and they’re more than happy to hold that energy hostage for the rest of the world,” he said.
But let’s get something straight: These Marxists know exactly what they are doing. It is their intent to crash our economy and then blame the collapse on “capitalism” (when what they are doing is actually thwarting capitalism) so they can claim ‘it doesn’t work’ and usher in their ‘new’ managed economy — one that they plan, they run and one that strips Americans of their freedom, independence and opportunities.
